Minecraft Cake

My son discovered a new internet's game : Minecraft.
Do you know it ?
The goal is to built a home in a squared universe ... All is square ... All ... Cows are squares, dogs are squared.
There're zombies ... They are square.
Believe me, if one day, I met a square zombi, I promise : I won't be scared at all !
Yes, maybe I could die. But die of laughing !
I could even call him "bob" !

Now that I think about it, I realize that my son always loved squared universe ...
He loved Sponge Bob. He loved a little robot called Rolie Polie Olie, who were a circle. But he loved most his best friend : Billie The Square (... after Billy the Kid, now Billy the Square ... Less terrifying).
And now : Minecraft !

Well, I have to admit that I do prefer to see him playing to minecraft than Dead Rising !
So, ok, let's go for square cows, zombies, and cats, dogs, whatever you like but square !

My children like to celebrate their birthday with friends.
We're living in a small apartment, so usually, we celebrate it outside.

My daughter loves to cook, since she's a little little girl. So I organized her birthday, with 4 friends, in a culinary workshop, with a chef so kind !
They cooked cupcakes and had a great time together.

For his birthday party, my gnome invited 3 boy friends at home. And I baked him a minecraft cake.
This recipe is a little bit long to cook, but I promise, it's very very easy !
Now, you begin to know me : I'm not a chef. If I can do it, YOU CAN DO IT !

The base is a Yogurt cake. I just changed the pan and took ... a square one !

I made 4 yogurt cakes.

For the decoration, you'll need :

  • 400 grammes of dark chocolate
  • 200 grammes of unsalted butter (... This is definitively NOT a light cake ...)
  • 100 grammes of green almond paste.

Put your almond paste in the freezer for one hour, before making the decoration. It will be easier to work with.

Step 1 :
Put the butter and chocolate in the microwave, and let them melt together, 30 seconds after 30 seconds, until combined.
Never try to go faster. Your chocolate would have a burning taste and you would be obligated to throw it away.

Step 2 :
Cut up VERY CAREFULLY ... believe my hurting finger ... the top and the bottom of each cake.

Here's the scalp ...

Step 3 : With a spatula ...

... spread the chocolate mixture on each cake and pile them up.

Okay ! My pile is not erected correctly ... Don't worry ... It will be worse after !

Step 4 : With the same knife (but clean, of course) who served to cut up your poor and podgy fingers ... try to cut up the board of your cake.

The goal is to make a square ...
What ??... This is a square thiner at the bottom than the top. YES, AND ??...
I just want to remind you that, at this moment, I just had 7 fingers in perfect health !

At this time, I was thinking :
"Who had this ... idea to bake this cake ??!!! The next time, I'll buy it !"

Step 5 :
Cover totally the cake.

"How the hell am I going to put it in the cute service dish I bought ?..."

Step 5 :
NOW... and because with 7 fingers, it was still too easy for the goddess cook I am ... TAKE A GRATER !...
Yeah, baby, NO-FEAR !
Get out the almond paste from freezer.
And grate it ! The goal, of course, is to lose the saved fingers !

Step 6 :
Dredge the almond paste grated on the top of your cake.

And put it the fridge for one hour.

It would have been too bad to not use this dish, don't you think ? What ?... Yes, my son is 13 years old !  I'm sure his and friends and him will ADORE this dish !

    1. Hello Lea Ann and thank your for your comment :)
In fact, after one hour in the fridge, it was easier to move.
But to be honest, I called my husband's help, telling : "Be caaaaaareful ! Sloooooowly ! I swear, if the cake will fall down, I'll cry as a child ! ... Or I kill you, I don't know at the moment...".
      It's a very good motivation :D
