The best fruits salad in the world ;)

Tonight, we're invited. Here, it's very hot and I have to make the dessert.

No will of chocolate or "heavy" dessert.
The fruits salade is what we need !

Step 1 :
Take all the fruits you love ! Make the mix you prefer, with the quantity you want.
I know, it's not very precise but the important, even if the fruits are, is the syrup.
So, for us, it was :
  • Bananas
  • Peaches
  • Strawberries
  • Oranges  I took it on the pictures and I decided to not use it.
  • Kiwis. I didn't have kiwis, that's the reason why there're not on the pic, but my husband went to buy me some of them ... Cute ;)
  • Pears
  • Apples
  • Apricot
  • lychees in can
  • Pineapple in can (if you can use fresh one, do it, but that's good too with pineapple in can)
  • A lemon, to make the bananas and the pears stay clear.

Step 2 : the syrup ! ... Which will make all the difference, with normal fruits salad.
  • 400 ml of water
  • 300 grammes of brown sugar
  • 2 pod of vanilla
And if you like, but it's not obligatory (I don't use it) : 2 star anise.

Step 3 :
Begin by this, before the fruits.
Put water and sugar together and make them boil.
Cut the 2 vanilla in the sens of
When it boils, add the 2 vanillas cut in the lengthwise and let them boil slowly, for 10 minutes (add the star anise, if you like too).
When it's done, let it cool totally.

Ugly to watch, but terrific to eat ;)

Step 4 :
Cut all the fruits !
The worst part is that you'll need to peel them (pear, peach and apple ... And banana, of course !!... :D)

Sprinkle it time to time with the lemon juice.

Step 5 :
When the syrup is totally cool, pour it on the fruits.
In the fridge for one hour and it's ready.

Believe me ... I never met ONE person who did not like this salad ... !

Bon appétit ;)

  1. Hello, I'm popping in from Quiet Life. My name is Susan and I live in Zurich. We're practically neighbors ;-) The fruit looks lovely. It is so warm right now over here, isn't it? Last night for a sweet after dinner it was just vanilla ice cream with blueberries. Yum! Thanks for blogging and I hope to visit you again soon.

  8. Bonjour, mon ami! Ca va?

I took a whopping 2 years of French in high school and delightedly visited Paris in the 10th grade. That was over 30 years ago and my greeting above is about the extent of what I remember. So sad.

Welcome to the blogosphere! I’m glad Donna shared your link with us. It will be fun to visit your site from time to time and see how a real French family cooks and eats… I imagine it’s not all Julia Childs’ style!

At my blog, you’ll find a bit of purely American comfort food (more fattening than healthy).

So, it was nice to pay a visit. I’ll be back again!

Langages is like ride a bicycle : even years after, we don't forget it ! Just need to practice.
You're totally right, this is not the Julia's Child style, because I don't have time and patience and talent, I suppose ;)
I'll visit you site too, because in away, my blog is comfort food too.
      Thank you for your visit.

I always see your comments on her blog. :)

    This looks like fun!

Two questions: What does convivial mean in your subtitle? and

What is a lychee in your fruit list?

    1. Hello Robin, how are you ? yesterday, my husband asked me for how many time did I posted comments on Donna's blog. I don't remember but I think a couple of years, now. Maybe more.
I see your comments too ;)
So, convivial mean "user-friendly". I watched in the dictionary before, but tell me, please if it doesn't mean nothing in english. I'll change the title.
And a lychee is a litchi, orry, I thought the word was the same for everyone ;)

  18. Interesting. I will have to try this. I have some vanilla beans I need to use!!

    1. When your fruit salad will be eaten, keep the beans vanilla, rinse them, make them dry and put them in your can of white sugar.
It will perfume it, you'll have vanilla sugared.
