Simple potatoes (pommes de terre au four)

Some days, you don't want to eat healthy.
Some days, you're fed up with vegetables.
Some days, you just need fat and sugar.
Some days, you're dreaming about a glass of white fresh wine. Or even two, or three, or ...
Some days, you're dreaming about Alex O'Loughlin...

... Then your children yell :"MUUUM !! Can we eat french fries tonight ??" and time catches you up.
So you have to find a balance between your dreams and the cruel reality.

You KNOW you can't eat french fries each day.
You KNOW vegetables are better for health.
You KNOW you've got a sweet husband ...

BUT ... you're just a woman and women need dreams !
So, here's a quick and not too fat recipe of pototaes. It will help you to fill your fat desire.
And for the rest, as me, watch Hawaii 5-0 and cry !

Here what you need :
  • Some potatoes (for 3, I used 6)
  • 2 tablespoon of Olive oil
  • Rosemary
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Salt and pepper
Your oven must be preheated at 180°C (350°F / Th6)

Step 1 :
Rinse your potatoes carefully.

Step 2 :
Cut them in slices, in the length direction and arrange them on a sheet paper.

Step 3 :
Sprinkle them with salt and pepper, olive oil, rosemary and garlic not peeled.

Step 4 :
Then, in the oven for 15 minutes. After this time, stir them gently.

And let them cook for 15-20 minutes more.

Bon appétit !

  1. Dear Axelle-Ok. So I am going to invest in gruyere cheese AND parchment paper. I have made this type of french fries for years and always they stick to my pan and are not so pretty. I never thought to use parchment paper for french fries. You always teach me quelque chose. Regards-Jamie

    2. Dear Axelle-Sunday dinner and to welcome my husband back from a week business trip, we prepared your Tomato Pie, and your Roasted Rosemary Potatoes. A blueberry pie finished the meal. The roasted potatoes for seven people fit on two broiler pans with the parchment paper. The paper was so perfect-the potatoes did not stick to the pan. Thank you for a delicious dinner! Regards-Jamie p.s. Can you show us how to make scalloped potatoes? Mine never cook right. It's the ratio of liquid to potatoes. What's the trick? What does a Provencal maman do?

    1. ME TOO, ME TOO, ME TOO !!! :D ... But I'm not sure I would be able to eat them for breakfast. As you surely know, frenchmen use to eat sugared, in the morning : pain au chocolat, croissant or butter and jam, or some cookies or cakes. But, for the most of us, we can't eat salted :)

  4. Oh Axelle, How I wish I could share our rosemary with you. We have a front garden with huge rosemary bushes that are trying to take over. We have to cut them back every year and I have shared the clippings in the past with a restaurant in town. The potato recipe is simple and looks delicious. I will have to try it. Your recipes inspire me!
    love and prayers, jep

    1. I would love to share it with you too; Jep ! I've got a small one on my balcony and I don't know why : he dies each year, for summer ! Too bad because I use it a lot for my cook ! :)
So if you've got the chance to have bushes in your garden, use it thinking of me :D

Here, we use herbs very often. Each kind of herbs and rosemary is the perfect husband of potato :)
