London, day 1 : Touristic attitude !

Hello friends !

Finally, we're back ! We spent a wonderful time in London.
Six great days and not too cloudy !
We discovered a city full of different people, full of life, very well organized and clean.

Let me just say something : Links between English and French people are supposed to not be very cordial.
Our History, from Middle Age could explain this. So I went to London, with a little bit of apprehension.

Then, I found really, truly kind persons ! People were always ready to help us, stopping in the streets when they were realizing we were lost, replying in a very polite way. They were always smiling when we were asking something.

Once, close to Buckingham Palace, my children saw a Bobby. I asked him if I could take a picture. He took my children by shoulders and had a wonderful smile with a mustache !
I couldn't imagine this with a French policeman, for example !...
Maybe we should obligate them to have mustache ... :D

And it made me feel a little bit ashamed for our way to welcome foreign visitors, here...
I just hope if one day you'll come in France, you'll meet kind and educated people as I met in England.
Because, even in France, they exist ! :)

I just have ONE regret ... I did not taste a scone. I wanted so hard ... And I did not find one in bakery ! We found baguettes, croissants, pains au chocolat, but no scone !
I'm sad.

Here some pictures : some were taken with my cell, sorry for the quality.

Paris : Gare de Lyon. For me, the most beautiful Parisian Train Station.

Paris : Gare du Nord, Eurostar, to London, Saint Pancras.

First day : we made the classical touristic bus tour, to discover the city.

The metro was so clean, regarding to the one of Paris or Marseille

Picadilly Circus.

London is a curious town, by the way : a mixing between old and very modern.

We found Sean Connery, on the boat !! Well, almost...

The most courageous palm tree in the world !

Well... I think it's not easy to get out with this costume ! :D

I'll post other pictures day by day and some recipes my friends cooked for us. No english food, unfortunately...
I hope you're all fine, friends, and I'm happy to be with you again !

  2. Dear Axelle-Welcome Home! Thank you for your photographs. I look forward to seeing and hearing more of your Family Adventure and reading about your feasts. Did you take the tunnel train under the English Channel in order to arrive in England? Regards-Jamie

    1. Dear Jamie, yes we took the Channel, with the eurostar Train. But I was very surprised because it took 30 minutes. I thought we would spend 2 hours, I don't know why ! And you know what : french north lands are not so different from english south lands !
That's the reason why there are a lot of english living in Normandy, for example.

  3. Hi Axelle,
Glad to see that you are back! What a lovely vacation! I hope to visit London one day, my sister has been there a couple of times and she love it too. It is a shame indeed that you did not get to taste their scones. I am rather surprised that their bakery did not sell it!
Thank you for all the beautiful photos, I'll feast my eyes on the photos first, perhaps one day I'll be able to stand right there, in all the wonderful places!
    Have a lovely week!

    1. Hi Joyce, I do totally agree with you : I was really deluded to not eat scones. There were muffins, pancakes, croissants, pains au chocolat, carrot cakes, cinnamon cakes, other types of cakes but no scones ! I think I'm going to try to make them by myself. Even if I'll miss the english ambient ! :)
      Thank you for your comment.

    1. Hello T.W. Being there, I often thought about american people. Because, a lot of things are (in my opinion, of course) similar with USA : architecture, shops...
Taking pictures, I was thinking about my american blog's reader, wondering if you would feel the "change of scenery", looking at them, or if you would feel "at home".
