Pork ribs for our Jake Sully (Côtes de porc pour notre Jake Sully)

Monday afternoon, while I was working, the sport's teacher of my son called me.
My gnome broke his nose.
During sport time at school.
They were playing Rugby.
While my son is as large as a safety match ...

My gnome has the chance to have a sport teacher who wants to make them discover different sports !
This way, last year, they tried boxing, acrobatics, and Graeco Roman wrestling ...
When he told me they were doing wrestling, I swallowed ...
But the Gnome reassure me :
"Don't worry, maman, I've got a technic ! I fall down on the floor and with my 20 fingers, I cling on everything I can ! No one can lift me up !"

This year, they began with climbing and rugby ! ... I swallowed again !!

Two days ago, my phone rang and the teacher's voice told me :
"Madame S ? Most of all, DON'T WORRY ..."

... I don't know for you... But for me, when a sentence begins like this... Strangely... this is not a good way to make me feel at ease.
When you tell me "Don't", I do ... I'm such a rebel, you remember ?

He told me :
"I'm sorry but firemen are going to take him to the hospital, they can't wait for you".

I left my work, running, of course.
But I was wise and didn't drive too fast,  knowing that a lot of accidents happen this way, too.

But I had to go to take my girl at school, before !

On the road, I crossed the firemen's truck, with my son in it, and it was a very bad feeling, for me.

When I arrived at school, I met the teacher, of course, who were really, deeply sorry.
I told him :
"Please, now, make them discover ballet dancing, I'm sure it would be less dangerous !"

When the Gnomette and I arrived at the hospital, we discovered my son, with 3 nurses around him.
I know some men who would give their nose to be in this situation ...

He was trying to be strong and male.
But when he saw us, he became a little boy and cried so much.
We stayed 2 hours at this hospital, and they made all the exams. His nose is really broken.

We have another rendez-vous with doctors on friday morning to know what we're going to do. I just hope he won't need any operation.

For the moment, I call him My Little Jake Sully ...

I promise : They've got the same nose, the same form ...

I asked him if he was agree to post pictures of him.
It was the first day : today, it's a little bit less puffy but it's multicolored !

So, to give him comfort, my husband cooked him Pork's ribs. He loves that.

You'll need :
  • 4 porks loins. You need fat pork, for the sauce.
  • Neutral oil
  • Some butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 bay leafs.

Step 1 :
On a high fire, let melt butter with oil.

Step 2 :
Let gold entires cloves and bay leafs, for some minutes.

Step 3 :
Always on a high fire, make grill your pork, on both side. Let it caramelize for 10 minutes or so.

Step 4 :
Cover with a lid and let cook on low fire for 20 minutes, turning them time to time.

Step 5 :
After those 20 minutes, here how they look like.

Step 6 :
Now, take a 1/4 of water glass, pour it in the pan and make it turn to deglaze.

It's done !

Bon appétit !

  1. Oh no, poor Gnome!!! What an impressive nose he has indeed :) I cross my fingers so he doesn't have to have surgery!

Small question: what do you mean by safety match? Une allumette? ou une epingle a nourrice?

Your ribs look amazing, I was planing on making beef short ribs this weekend (it's Thanksgiving in Canada) and I want them NOW, thanks to your pictures ;)

I know I make mistakes when i write in english. Typing, I think :"no, this a french way to say that. In english, there must be another way".
But I'm not ashamed to try, so I dare... ;)
But it takes me a long time to write a post ! As I use to say, dictionary is becoming my best friend ! ... After my blender, chocolate, nutella ....etc ...

  8. Most of all, he knows himself : he's small and thin ! No way to win against biggest boys !! At this age, the disproportion between boys is very important. Some are already men, while mine is still a little boy !! ;D
Thank you for your words, Sweet, which always make my day ;)
