Vegetables purée.

After all those riches dishes, I needed some vegetables !
The first zucchini I ate tasted so good !
I think I never loved a zucchini as much as I loved her recently !

... No, it's untrue ...

I loved them much more after a diet period. A terrific diet period.

Do you know the Dukan's diet program ?
Principle : To eat for 5 days only proteins.
And after those 5 days, you have to alternate one day only proteins and the other day, proteins and vegetables.

So, during those 5 first days, you eat meat (not every kind of meat, of course... Sausages are prohibited, of course. This Doctor Dukan is really not fun !), fishes, eggs, one type of light cheese, yogurts 0%...Etc...

At the beginning, it was great !

I ate meat with eggs on it and ham and eggs, and meat, and ham, and fishes, and ham, and meat ...

Believe me : the sixth  day, I opened my fridge and almost cried seeing a tomato !
OH MY GOD, how much I loved this tomato !
I told her so many loving words ... before devouring her !
A beautiful sacrifice.
My stomach will always be thankful to her.

Well, so, even if, when I was a child it was unbelievable, today, I love to eat vegetables.
Most of all, after those excessive periods !
Here a very simple and daily dish.
I do it very often and we all love it.

Here what you'll need, for 4 - 5 persons :

  • 10 carrots or so...
  • 3 leeks or so ...
  • 4 zucchini (all together : ) OR SO ...
  • 3 big potatoes
  • 1 turnip
  • 120 grammes of cream cheese
  • And if you've got 40 grammes of Tartare cheese or Boursin, or any kind of cheese with herbs and garlic. If you don't have, no problem, just add 40 grammes of cream cheese more and a clove of garlic that you cooked with vegetables.

Step 1 :
Peel all the vegetables who need to be peeled and let them cook for 30 minutes in a steamer.
Always put vegetables who need the longest time to cook in the bottom.

Step 2 :
When it's done, pour all them in a dish and add the cheese.

Ok ... Once again, my awful dish ... But I can put it in the fridge easily !

Step 3 :
Heeeelllooo you ! I haven't see you for a while ! I'm so happy to see you again, even if you just have one foot, and if this foot is inside my purée...
You're the only one I will accept this !

Step 4 :
If you have some gruyère or some cheddar, just add it at the end. How much as you like.

And that's it !
Bon appétit !

... This is my daughter's plate. Not mine ... Mine were full !

  2. OMG, Axelle, you are so funny! You had me in giggles when you found a treasure in your fridge, a tomato! Much as I love meat, I cannot imagine myself without any veggies!
Your vegetable puree reminds me of baby food, and baby food is always yummy with lots of nutrients! When my kids were babies, I used to eat the leftovers, and I don't mind!
    Have a great week!

    1. Thank you very much, Joce ! You think I'm funny, my husband thinks I'm crazy !! :D
He uses to tell me he's got the feeling to live in Disneyland !!
You're TOTALLY right ! This purée is true a baby food ! In fact, when my boy was a baby, I was working and he went to a child care center. That's what cooks made sometimes for babies. My boy loved it and I took the recipe from this time. :)
Have a great week too !

  3. Axelle-this is just what we need right now for the same reasons! It's ok about the duck. I read both of your answers on that issue. Maybe you could skin a fresh chicken or something for us and show us how it's done....Maybe we'll just move on to vegetables. Thank you. Jamie

    1. Hi Jamie :)
You know, this is exactly where my ..."talents" stop : I'm unable to cook a fresh chicken ! I'm always trying to save time and I have to say that I try to buy good products but easy to prepare.
But if you want, I don't know if you saw it, there's a recipe with a chicken and green olives. It's on my blog archives, if you want.
      :)

  4. Too funny! As much as I love lean meats, I agree, I'd have to have a veggie here and there. Happy New Year.
