Leeks fondue (fondue de poireaux)

The first time I ate leeks fondue, I was to my sister.
She didn’t know if we would like it, so she made few leeks.
I didn’t imagine leeks could be so good !!
I’ve bought frozen fondue leeks. But even in a good store, it was not as yummy as the ones I ate this day.
I’m going to share with you, my sister’s recipe.

Here what you’ll need :

  • 1 kg leek's whites.
  • 30 grammes of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar.

Step 1... :
Cut leeks in slices .

Step 2 :
In a pan, add butter and olive oil.
Cook leeks, with the sugar, on a low fire until they become transparent and lightly caramelized.

Oh yes, sorry ...
Step 3 :
Cover with a lid.

Stir every now and then.It takes 30 minutes or so.

THAT’S ALL, FOLKS !
… The longest part is to cut leeks.

It's a sugared dish who can make your children love leeks ! Yes, madame !

... I have to admit : my daughter cooks this dish !
That's the way it is : if she wants to eat, she have to cook !!!!
I'm kidding, of course ;)

Bon appétit !

  1. Your blog is so much fun.! I'm cooking everything and laughing at your stories. Your english is beautiful and funny!
I thought the longest thing about this recipe would be washing the leeks. Any tips on how to make that easier? The leeks in the stores here are usually full of granulate particles.
I'm over here in southern Oregon by the way.

    1. Dear Jamie, I thought it was you ;)
Once again, thank you so much for your words. I'm happy if readers are happy ! And what you say always touch me deeply. Thank you.
yes, you're right too : the longest part is to wash. My leeks are also full of "dust". The only way to clean them is to cut them in two, in lengthwise and rinse them under water falling.

  2. Axelle, that's me, Jamie, up there. I've left a comment before but I don't know why I'm 'Anonymous' now. What is an URL? I don't think I have an URL.
