Chicken and carrots curried (poulet et carottes au curry)

No... seriously ... I really don't know why people say making sport is good for our body !

Sport is supposedly to be healthy !

Let me laugh ... Ah, ah, ah ...
Excuse me, but I've got my own theory :

Sport is tiring.
Each time, I try to make sport, after 10 minutes, I ask to myself :
"Axelle ?... Can you remind me, just once again, why are you running ? I just forgot it and, believe me, I'm already exhausted ! So you must have a very good reason for doing it !"

Sport is dangerous.
Just look how many athletics are injured, making sport... It doesn't happen to the one who stay in his armchair.
The only sport which is not too dangerous is chess... Don't laugh, it's an olympic sport, madame !
Those who play chess have a brain and thumb and index finger (to move pieces) very muscular !

And finally, sport makes you stink !
Yes, if you do it correctly, you perspire ! And I'm sorry, but even the most beautiful girl in town becomes really unsexy with two terrific rings under her arms !

These were the three arguments I was repeating to myself on saturday and sunday, when I decided to get my step out of the cupboard and when I began to get onto and to go down, for forty five eternal minutes ...

Today, I've got the same way of walking than John Wayne ! Without spending twenty hours on a horse !
I just miss the hat !

I can't make one step without saying : "whau, ouh la, ouch, ow ..." and my husband told me it would be worst tomorrow !
AND THAT I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN IF I WANT TO GET MY MUSCLES USED TO !

... So, seriously ...tell me ... where is the good point to make sport ?

Let's just eating.

Here what you'll need for 4 persons :
  • 4 chicken scallops
  • 5, 6 or how much you want carrots
  • 20 cl of light cream
  • 20 cl of coconut milk
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Curry powder
  • Some olive oil.

Step 1 :
Did you notice how much onion looks like a love story ... You begin by taking away clothes ... then, you cry.
... Okay... worth nothing, sorry.
Well, peel your onion and make it brown in olive oil. When it becomes transparent, add the garlic.

Step 2 :
Cut your carrots in slices and your chicken in pieces.
When onion and garlic are caramelized, add your meat and vegetables. Let it brown too for 10 minutes, or so.

Step 3 :
After those 10 minutes, pour how many curry you want. You must feel the perfume of it, of course. And it depends on the spicy of your powder.
stir all that to coat the mixture.

Step 4 :
Pour your cream and coconut milk. If you don't like coconut milk, you can just replace it by 20 cl of cream.

Step 5 :
Let it cook on a low fire until carrots become tender. You can add parsley.

Bon appétit !

  1. Hahahaha, I agree with you, doing sports is a torture! Good luck to you, I hope you can move without being in too much pain to keep writing on this blog ;)

Curry powder is a very French thing, it's interesting. I've never seen it used in US/Canadian recipes. In Indian cookbooks, authors tell you how to make this "curry powder" from scratch, because obviously it's a mix of several spices, not just one specific spice.

PS. Your present is packed, the package is sealed, the address is written on the package... Now I just need to find the courage to go to the post office! Since it's -11 today, maybe I'll go tomorrow...

    1. Dear Jep, I'm allergic too, I understand what you mean, believe me !! :)
You say you 're not able to eat curry, this is because you don't like it ? Or because of a food allergy ?

  3. I know what you mean, exercise is painful and BORING in my opinion.

This curry looks pleasant and exciting though!

    1. OMG, you're so right ! I've tried one million different sport ... After, well, two weeks, I get totally bored too. I've bought the Wii balance board, you know, with the "DVD" with a thousand little games, thinking I will have some fun. It was exactly the same : after trying all the games, it bored me ... But I just LOOOOVE to read .... In french we say "il faut de tout, pour faire un monde" (we need everybody/evrything to create an entire world).
And the curry is truly better than 45 minutes of step :)

  5. Hi Axelle,
Hahaha! You never fail to bring me a smile! I totally agree with you on exercising! Preparing meals, doing the laundry, cleaning the house are exercises to me! Not to mention "brain exercise" when I got to remind my kids about their homework, time for their school activities, remind my hubby about the next car service! I've got enough of exercises and terrific rings under the arms, alright! Hahaha!
Your chicken curry looks delicious, this would be great with rice or even bread! Bon Appetit indeed!

    1. Hello Joyce ! I'm happy to make you happy :D
I do agree with you ! Between laundry, house, cooking, children and husband ... WHY DON'T WE LIVE ANYMORE AT THE RUBEN'S PERIOD ??? Where women were large and fat were wonderful ! ... Life is unfair.

    2. Dear kitchen flavours and Axelle-I'm looking forward to the period when I can wear a black dress, sensible black shoes and a babushka and make pasta and sauce all day and tell people to " mange! mange!".
