And then I just found out that 'tresse' means 'braid' in french, of course the verb form. Where tress in english is a long lock of hair. Of course the word origin is obvious: you can't tresse a short head of hair but you can tresse a tress. The origin of words is very interesting. 'Fil' of course is ' thread' or 'string' which of course for a scoubidou must be plastic. Naturally, our word 'filament' comes from 'fil'. Remember in the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" when the father is always explaining how different words are traced back to greek origins? Even the word 'kimono'. Ha Ha It was funny. And the windex thing?
May you still be enjoying your holiday. De mon cote, les origines sont pied noir et italienne, ce qui peut parfois etre lourd... Mais nous avons les defauts de nos qualites et les qualites de nos defauts. Et je continue a dire a mes enfants que la seule chose sur laquelle on puisse reellement compter, meme s'ils peuvent ne pas en avoir conscience maintenant, c'est la famille. :)Axelle the french cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13223450605517992278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959719749406488146.post-41585707876093540982013-08-26T12:17:10.594+02:002013-08-26T12:17:10.594+02:00Dear Jamie, I was sure you would like this ambient...Dear Jamie, I was sure you would like this ambient ;)
I used the word : scoobidoo with hesitation because i wasn't sure it would be the same in france and in anglo saxons countries. It's made with 4 plastics and colored "FIL" (i'm sorry, i don't know the english word and I can't find the transalation where I am, but I'm sure you can :).
And children use to "TRESSE" it.Axelle the french cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13223450605517992278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959719749406488146.post-60275407270761164132013-08-25T21:29:12.730+02:002013-08-25T21:29:12.730+02:00Thank you for these wonderful pictures and pretty ...Thank you for these wonderful pictures and pretty comments.Coconoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959719749406488146.post-21273642727905170892013-08-25T18:56:18.866+02:002013-08-25T18:56:18.866+02:00all these look beautiful the food and the place!!all these look beautiful the food and the place!!Gloria Bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03055543111865966546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6959719749406488146.post-4958795639091561562013-08-25T07:26:31.088+02:002013-08-25T07:26:31.088+02:00Quel chouette jardin et que de bons moments vous s...Quel chouette jardin et que de bons moments vous semblez tous passer ensemble :) Profite bien, veinarde! Another one of my favorites. Bugles and Pastis. I'm in heaven! I thought Scooby Doo was just a cartoon but I see a scoobidoo is also a bracelet? Is that what they were making? Such beautiful purpley flowers on the plant growing around the window by the table. What a gorgeous plant. Thank you for sharing this with us. Regards-JamieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
